okay, that's neat...what else?
Hello, New York!! Oh wait. Not there quiteeee yet. I'm just now stepping into the scene after graduating from the University of Oklahoma in May 2019. I minored in enterprise studies as well, which means I know some valuable knowledge regarding business affairs, communications, and human relations skills in addition to my public relations major. I'd love to show you some of the stuff I've learned while in college, but let's take a deeper look into what I accomplished along my collegiate career.
Along with my degree, I picked up some other trades as well. I've been lucky to have been offered a few scholarships by OU and the OKC PRSA chapter! I'm was also honored to have been able to represent the OU PRSSA chapter as the Vice President and Historian of the OU PRSSA Executive Cabinet. Through these accomplishments, I have learned the skills of leadership, integrity, continued determination, and so much more.
During my time in college, I also obtained five enriching and eye-opening internships within the marketing, communications, and public relations fields. Just recently, I hit it big time and moved to Los Angeles during the summer of 2018 to be a Television Publicity intern at Warner Bros. Entertainment. I was able to touch and design content for shows such as Riverdale, Supernatural, Arrow, The Flash, and You. I also got to experience San Diego Comic Con first-hand and backstage! I was able to develop skills in talent management, logistics coordination, documentation/expenses reports, and travel itineraries during this experience. This internship also taught me how important it is to uphold public relations values and ethics. Additionally, the opportunity also taught me the ropes of the entertainment industry and how integral media relations is to being a publicist and maintaining public image. However, before I made the jump, I served as the sole Social Media Manager at The University of Oklahoma Video and Media Services. Through that opportunity, I learned to multi-task content creation as well developed the creativity to expand on my ideas. I have always been a team player in my many jobs and internships before this, so that experience allowed me the chance to design my own strategies and implement them from start to finish. These are a few glimpses of what I accomplished during my time in college. Now, I am prepared and excited to be a part of an organization where all people are valued, no matter where it be.
You're probably thinking, "that's great and all...but how?" and my answer to you is passion. I chose my major as a young hopeful halfway through my high school journey. I knew I loved writing, reading, and researching. That's when I stumbled upon PR. After doing some research (of course), I knew that this was the path that I needed to go down. I continue to learn new aspects to the job that amaze and intrigue me. I have also found other passions along the path such as marketing, business affairs, marketing and graphic design. Ideally, I would love a job in the future that would allow me the capability touch on all of these traits. In fact, I'm a consistent learner; because of this, I crave new knowledge and information. I want a job that pushes me to be a better professional, with continued growth and opportunities. I never want to settle for the skills I already know, I want to continue to flourish and develop.
With all of that said, my focuses for my professional journey includes me pursuing an entertainment industry career within public relations/image management or business affairs, pitching ideas and managing clients for an agency, or engaging with audiences through promotional efforts and social media channels. PR is so vast which offers me the chance to be more than a one-trick pony. I'm willing to learn all of the tricks of the trade before I hone in on my specialty. Maybe you can help me find that?
